Official visit from the High Sheriff of Kent

The High Sheriff of Kent, Mrs Georgie Warner was greeted by many costumed characters when she joined the St Peter's Village tour for an official visit on the morning of June 16th 2011.

The office of High Sheriff dates back more than 1000 years and originally held many of the powers now vested in Lord Lieutenants, High Court Judges and Magistrates.

Mrs Warner was accompanied by the Chairman of Kent County Council Paulina Stockell and the Mayor of Broadstairs and St Peter's Cllr. David Saunders.

Another event that occured on this day, was a ceremony to unveil the replica of the Norwood Helm. To learn more about this historic event click here.
